Netflix viewership numbers may have gotten a little higher over the weekend with the premiere of their workplace pot dispensary comedy, Disjointed.

Developed by Chuck Lorre of the Big Bang Theory and The Daily Show writer David Javerbaum, Disjointed is Netflix’s latest binge-worthy show starring Kathy Bates as Ruth Whitefeather Feldman, a medical marijuana advocate who opens a dispensary in Los Angeles with a little help from a few “budtenders.”

And in what might be the greatest promotional push for a TV show that takes place in a medical marijuana dispensary (OK, the only one), Netflix developed three specials strains of cannabis for their latest comedy - Rutherford B. Haze, the Omega Strain, and Eve’s Bush.

Netflix hosted a 3-day pop-up event this past weekend at Alternative Health Herbal Services in West Hollywood where they sold their promotional goodies. Encased in a series of playfully designed canisters, visitors to the store walked away with Disjointed’s one-of-a-kind memorabilia, purposefully paired for your home-viewing pleasure, though only card-carrying Californians with a “medical condition” were lucky enough to purchase Netflix’s latest venture into the world of cannabis.

But Netflix didn’t stop there. They developed nine other cannabis strains for some of their biggest hits, each tailor-made for a specific show where they would match invigorating sativas with dramas and calming indicas for some of their more lighthearted fare.

Strains that were available to purchase included Arrested Development’s Banana Stand Kush, Chelsea’s Vodkush, Wet Hot American Summer’s Camp Firewood, Grace & Frankie’s Peyotea 73, Lady Dynamite’s Sassafrass OG, MST3K:The Return’s Moon 13, Orange is the New Black’s Poussey Riot, Bojack Horseman’s Prickly Muffin, and our personal favorite, cannibal comedy Santa Clarita Diet’s Baka Bile, made especially to “really ramp up your diet.”

No word yet on whether Netflix plans to host future pop-up events or if they’ll parlay their latest endeavor into a brand-new side hustle to pay down their $20 billion in debt, though it seems unlikely as they did this solely for promotional purposes only.
