Next time you’re in Chi-Town, keep your eyes open for this special brew. Goose Island Proprietor’s Bourbon County Brand Stout got a redesign from VSA Partners, but you’ll only be able to find this delightful variant in Chicago. To get the recipe for Proprietor’s every brewer was encouraged to take home some of the Bourbon County Stout and experiment a bit with the ingredients, and then one of the brewer’s recipes is selected. For 2015, brewer Di’s was chosen—a barrel-aged imperial stout, with maple, toasted pecans, and guajillo peppers.

Each bottle is embossed with the Goose Island Bourbon County Brand logo, consistent with the rest of the brews in the line. At the top is a bottle neck label with a small flag including a beer description, looking classy in a robin’s egg blue and a candy apple red. The Proprietor’s Bourbon County Brand Stout also comes in a box that not only makes the brew a bit of a collector’s item but makes the experience of opening it up even more exciting. Upon popping open the top of the box, small details like a tab that says “Cheers!” and a thank you note feel personable and give every buyer a unique experience. The overall look is prized, communicating the pride that Goose Island takes in their specialty brews.
