Introducing a new and cool way to wake up and smell the coffee. Stumptown Coffee Roasters needed an identity development and package design for their cold brew products, and Chandelarrow Design Co. looked at it as an opportunity to update the brand while still reflecting successful earlier representations of Stumptown’s brand. They looked to previous versions and took cues on what color palettes, substrates, and production techniques were used to develop the new identity and packaging.

Using earthy colors, like brown, burnt orange, and tan, obviously harmonious hues to associate with the rich and chocolatey color of coffee, but it also is a nod to the remote places where some of the best coffee beans are sourced. There are two main fonts used, a serif text that is paired with a slightly sloped cursive, which both appear on the main oval label. The packages are simple, giving off a small-town vibe.

A simple soda can, a carton (like the one you might have bought in the cafeteria in school), and a traditional amber soda bottle are all classic containers that give the brand a slight retro feel. While they all fall under the cold brew line of products, they are each distinct enough to allow consumers to try them all and pick their favorite one to drink.
