Let me introduce you to Sandbar Sunday – a new and already wildly successful craft beer, created by Islamorada Beer Company – brewers from a tiny island within the Florida Keys. I suspect it’s the combination of a high-quality brew partnered with the eye-catching packaging design from a Truth Collective and Sixteen Ton collaboration, that has brought so much attention to these bottles.
With no marketing dollars to work with, Truth Collective and Sixteen Ton were tasked with creating a design solution that would be the vehicle to draw attention and help drive sales. A sunny, two color palette of yellow and turquoise echos the attitude of island life while also evoking the relaxation of the refreshment. It’s this pairing of bright colors, combined with an “all caps” typography-based design solution that allows this packaging to really shine.
Placed prominently on all packaging is the hashtag #MySandBar, a great use of the buzz a good social media campaign can drum up.
“The hashtag, #MySandBar was used to communicate that we’re reinforcing sharing the drinking occasions users have with Sandbar Sunday, with their social circles. Sandbar Sunday is brewed with the Keys’ vibe and the region's heavily social quality in mind.”
Having only released Sandbar Sunday 10 months ago, it was a huge victory for Islamorada Beer Company to watch their beer sell out in record breaking time. And to add a cherry on top, Sandbar Sunday has already been added to the tap list at Sun Life Stadium, the home of the Miami Dolphins and University of Miami.
And with success, there will come a new beer released in 2015. I look forward to seeing the design work Truth Collective and Sixteen Ton will create for the next round.
