‘Tis the season for delicious spiced drinks! Mulled wine, or Glögg in Sweden, is a red wine made with various mulling spices and raisins. On cold winter days, it’s customary to grab a glass of it, especially at Swedish Christmas celebrations. Scandinavian Design Group designed the packaging for 2015’s Glögg release from Blossa, the leader on the Swedish market, using a lovely cerulean blue and stark white to complement the delicate flora and fauna designs.
“Starting work with Blossa at the 2011 edition, Scandinavian Design Group created a design concept that evolves and develops with each annual release, moving the brand into a larger context beyond the packaging design – and beyond the perception of a traditional Christmas drink. The concept is based on new and interesting places where Blossa travels to find inspiration and exciting flavours. Coordinates on the bottle guide us to the exact destination that inspires each year's flavours.”
Blending influences from all over the globe, Blossa15 is a one-of-a-kind beverage for the holidays. Of course, there is Swedish inspiration along with the British Islands, the destination of choice for 2015. Blossa also honors tea traditions from China, making the beverage a bit of a holiday staple.
“In 2015, Blossa travels to the British Islands to find the taste of the classic Earl Grey tea. The coordinates take us to the heart of London and The London Tea Company, which together with Blossa's chief blender created the taste of Blossa15. Inspired by the afternoon tea tradition, the design of Blossa 15 re-invents illustration techniques from traditional China, influenced by the loved Swedish Christmas tradition of mulled wine.”
